I'd just DIE and run and hide :bolt: if the White House asked me to step down from my job.

No one should of even had to ask.

Anyone with an ounce of ethics would have resigned long ago, IMO.

Wagoner also closed factories; shed the unprofitable Oldsmobile brand; globalized GM's engineering, manufacturing and design to save billions; and led a resurgence in quality and performance of its long-neglected cars. In 2007, the company reached a landmark agreement with the United Auto Workers that shifted massive retiree health care costs to a union-run trust and ushered in a $14-per-hour wage for new hires, about half that of a current laborer.

But critics, including many members of Congress, say Wagoner moved too slowly, failing to cut enough of the company's huge health care and pension costs, and relying too long on high-profit pickup trucks and SUVs as gas prices rose and the market shifted toward smaller vehicles.

David Cole, chairman of the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, Mich., said Wagoner's departure probably will have little impact on GM's restructuring efforts because Henderson was the heir-apparent in GM's succession plans.

"I don't think you would see any shift or significant change at all with Rick's leaving. I think the course that they're on, they're on," he said.

I doubt there will be a major change.

People often can't see their own faults. Bill Clinton comes to mind.

You are correct Moon. My BIL's work closed up last week. (GM Supplier) Doens't know where
his 401K $ is. Has to hire Lawyer with others from his plant to try and get some of it. It's
(The Auto-Makers Crisis) effected so much around here. Where I work, I can see how much
business is off. My Boss laid off 3 people in the last week. Doesn't sound like many, but he
cut 7 jobs in the last few months also--those jobs were 24/7 coverage. The job I'm on now is
only 1 shift a day/5days a week-ME-trying to do what 3 shifts a day did before 7 days a week...
Makes my head spin just thinking about what I'll be doing today. I don't want :violin: played
for me as I am grateful just to have a job. (Don't like it much, but grateful) I do however worry about the younger ones laid off that have young children. Things have got to get better out there and soon.

OMG! That is horrific all around! Sending prayers to all :praying:

This economy and the fallout from it is the worst I have seen in my lifetime. My 82 year old mother has lost a lot of money via stocks but is holding on.

We are doing ok here, but business is WAY down.

Something has to shake, and SOON.

I heard tonight that he bankrupted the company, the stock price fell 96% under his watch and he still gets about 23 million as his payout for leaving. Nice work if you can get it. Perhaps one of our favorite reality stars would like to take his place - sounds right up her alley.

Thanks Moon for the :praying: Those never hurt. I have always bought American made cars-
Olds in the 80's, a Ford Explorer and Dodge Ram truck for my Boys, drive a Chrysler Sebring
now myself (RAG top--still want to feel young :hippy:) I know GM got into a rut with the
gas :drink: SUV's (Think HUMMERS) and did not move forward in their way of thinking.

I'm sending :goodvibes: to GM and especiallly the Employees who must be going totally nuts
with worry about their futures.

Give your Mom a big  for me. She is blessed to have you for a daughter.

We have all American cars here and my last two cars have been American as well. I try my damnest to buy American made in everything that I can, but MAN does that get hard.
